Stay Clean and Germ-Free with Lysol Power & Free {Giveaway}

It seems to have been a great year for viruses and germs.   It’s even worse when you have the odds stacked against you: our household has two germy teenaged girls, one germy baby boy in daycare and of course mommy and daddy whose coworkers don’t always stay home with their germy selves.

So what’s a family like ours to do? Well, I consider myself to be a supreme germ killer and the two items below have been my go-to germ killin’ disinfectin’ tools for as long as I can remember!

Yep, my lemon scented Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner and a spray bottle of diluted bleach with water.  These two have been my ultimate cleaning duo for all of the rooms in our house.   As you know, bleach not only has a harsh smell but is a pretty powerful chemical that requires protection for your hands.

The new Lysol Power & Free products offer the same germ killing strength without the harshness of bleach and no need for gloves. I just had to try these products out so you can imagine my excitement when I was contacted by Lysol to review them!

The new Lysol Power & Free lineup
The new Lysol Power & Free lineup

Lysol has done it again with great group of products to fit the needs of any household.

Kitchen

The best place to start with the Lysol Power & Free Multi-Purpose Cleaner is in the kitchen.   The kitchen has a lot of potential to be the biggest culprit for germ spreading.  In our open concept home,  the kitchen is the first place everyone goes to after work or school.  From the cupboard handles to the fridge, to the microwave, from the counter-tops to the pantry to the dishwasher, all of the surfaces in the kitchen have the potential to be germ/bacteria heaven.   The one thing I noticed about the Power & Free products vs the original All Purpose cleaner is the smell.  It’s not strong in  a way that is overbearing  but it truly gives that sense of clean when you’ve used it, it’s not as harsh.  There are two scents for the Multi-Purpose cleaner: Citrus Sparkle Zest and Oxygen Splash.  My personal fave is the citrus scent, most likely due to childhood memories of mom’s cleaning habits.

Bathroom(s)

We have 4 bathrooms in this house and it’s my least favorite household chore.  The new Power & Free Toilet & Bathroom Wipes definitely make it easier for my teenaged daughters to clean their bathrooms (when they do it of course).   The Bathroom cleaner proved to be quite powerful when I sprayed our sink and left it to disinfect.  All it needed was a very quick wipe with a cloth as the spray dissolved any dirt.  Both products have a truly refreshing scent.

Out of all of these products the only one I haven’t tried is the Toilet Bowl Cleaner and that’s only because we don’t have an actual toilet bowl brush in the house (we currently use a disposable system).

Areas of Opportunity?

From a results perspective  I feel very confident that these products do what Lysol says they do, and it’s the reason I’ve been a long time consumer of their products.  However, I do feel that the product design could use some improvement.   The spray bottles are bulky, not sure how best to get away from that though.  The mechanism to pull out bathroom wipes needs some improvement as I was constantly grabbing multiple wipes at a time instead of just the one I needed.  Small requests that don’t infringe on the actual use of the product.

  1. We are BIG users of the lysol disinfecting wipes in our home. We use it year round, but during the winter we use it to wipe down everything form the counters to the table and anything the kids touches.

  2. my favorite would be the Lysol Power & Free MultiPurpose Cleaner – Citrus Sparkle Zest – I love the scent of citrus.

as for special cleaning for flu season, i just tend to concentrate more on door handles and light switches

  3. I use Lysol Disinfecting wipes! Makes it so easy to wipe down toys quickly! My kids have so many, and it is to easy to pick the germs back up if everything is not cleaned!

  4. I would use the LYSOL Power & Free Multi-Purpose Cleaner. I find that we wipe down the phone and door knobs and faucet handles and so much more during colds in the house to help from spreading germs.

  5. I really need to get a system for cleaning – I don't do it very well around here! I would mostly likely use the Lysol Power & Free MultiPurpose Cleaner – Citrus Sparkle Zest the most. It sounds like it smells great and is really versatile.

  6. I'd use the bathroom cleaner the most (my husband would use the toilet cleaner the most). During flu season I wash my hands a lot and sometimes wipe things like door handles to get rid of germs.

In response to your questions of

What is your regimen for cleaning and disinfecting during cold & flu season? Which of the Lysol Power & Free products will you use the most?

I always use disinfecting wipes during cold and flu season

to wipe down commonly touched surfaces and i would use the

Lysol Power & Free MultiPurpose Cleaner – Citrus Sparkle Zest most.

Thank you for having this giveaway!!!!!!!!

  8. I use Lysol Power & Free wipes and disinfectant spray throughout my house all year long, especially cold and flu season.

  9. I use disinfecting wipes during cold and flu season to wipe down commonly touched surfaces. The product from this giveaway I would use most is the Lysol Power & Free Bathroom Cleaner.

  10. I don't do much different during the cold season – maybe just ensure to air out the house by keeping some windows open for a brief time. I'd most use this: Lysol Power & Free Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I have a lot of toilets to clean.

    Thanks.

  11. We use Lysol wipes during the cold/flu season, I would probably use the Lysol Power & Free Toilet & Bathroom Wipes most

  12. i would be using the Lysol Power & Free MultiPurpose Cleaner – Oxygen Splash on the kitchen counters and appliances. Germ transference is notorious in the kitchen

  13. I would definately use Lysol Power & Free Bathroom Cleaner- a clean bathroom equals happy family and guests. When we have colds we use extra care in washing our hands and disinfecting common areas in the home

  14. I would most use the Lysol Power & Free Toilet Bowl Cleaner – we have 3 toilets to clean. We don't clean any differently depending on the time of year – we are very stringent with cleaning!

  15. Take to the things most often used (phones, door knobs, switches) at least once. Make sure I remember to sneeze into a sleeve or napkin. And most importantly, remind myself to wash my hands more often than naught. Oh, and proper cooking/food handling practices.

  16. I would use the Lysol Power & Free wipes, I use them daily in the bathrooms, kitchen etc.

  17. i like to keep the wipes close by for easy to wipe up messes and i use the multi purpose to clean everything

  19. Lots of hand washing, lots of wiping down the toys and stroller. I'd use the wipes first, they make everything so quick and easy!

  20. During sick season, I do extra cleaning and an extra bleach bath for toys. The bathroom cleaner would be my most used item as I'm ALWAYS cleaning the bathroom!

  21. My regimen is to carry on disinfecting everything I can. I would probably use the Lysol Power & Free Toilet Bowl Cleaner first and then use it the most

  22. I'd use the Lysol Power & Free MultiPurpose Cleaner – Oxygen Splash the most to clean just about every surface in our house! We are pretty vigilant about wiping down door knobs, counters etc.

  23. I also use the power free wipes. Very convenient for my kitchen counters. Cold and flu season also mean extra handwashing!

  24. I would use Lysol Power & Free wipes first. I use wipes to clean the stove and kitchen and bathroom sinks
