A Classic Becomes New – Honey Nut Cheerios Hearty Oat Crunch {Giveaway}

Do you know what it means to upcycle? To put it simply, it’s taking old or classic items and converting them to something new for continued use. It happens every day in our households, in our workplaces, in our schools and life in general. People are constantly looking for ways to repurpose items rather than throw them away.   There are many instances of upcycling, it happens often in our daily lives!  Take music for example: I know right now that on the radio I’ve heard a classic Bob Marley song ‘Could You Be Loved’  upcycled using new beats, sounds and rhythms.

Some of the best and easiest examples of upcycling are with food.  In our house, I take classic macaroni and cheese and transform it into my childrens’ favorite meal just by adding a few extra ingredients: tuna, mayo, cream of mushroom soup and shredded cheese – Voila Tuna Casserole!

I’ve also repurposed an item to use at work – that counts too right? hahaha

  1. I use cereal bags..the heavier wax ones…for wax paper. Perfect for drop cookies. I've never purchased wax paper 😉

  2. reused wood from steps to an above ground pool (that we no longer have) to build the walls of a raised garden bed to grow squash, zuchhini and cucumbers!!

  3. Love using Folger's Coffee cans for storing items in. They even have a template on their website so you can make labels to cover theirs and personalize it for the seasons.

  4. I love using my empty coffee tins with the plastic lids for the kids toys. I wrap the outside with wrapping paper to make it pretty and fun, and then label it. They are great for markers, crafting supplies, or sharing baked goods with friends!

  5. I make my own wine and always have an assortment of corks. One thing I like to do is to hollow the corks out almost to the bottom. And stand a single flower in it. Using an eyedropper to fill it with water… Very simple and elegant display…
