Let the Wedding Planning Begin!

It happened on April 13, 2013. Β It was long awaited and highly anticipated. Β It was simple, romantic and in front of my parents and our children. I was completely caught off guard. Β I didn’t think it would happen, but it did.

On that wonderful Saturday at approx 415pm, the love of my life asked me to marry him! And after being prompted to answer (because I was still in shock), I said yes!

I can’t believe I’m not writing about this until now, life is so busy! However, that’s no excuse! I have some extra time this long weekend, so it’s time to catch up on a lot of what’s been happening in the past few months!

Ok, so back to the engagement! Woohoo! Seriously, I still can’t believe it to be honest. My honey, my Polish prince, he’s such an amazing human being, kindhearted yet stern, caring yet fun, humble and so very handsome; he is my very best friend and the love of my life! In the past 4.5 years, we have accomplished so many things: several awesome trips, we built a brand new house, and had a baby boy to add to our crazy brood. Β We are so blessed.

It’s so funny because you’d think I’d have all of the wedding details planned and ready to go since I felt like I was waiting for so long, but I have NOTHING! hahaha

There is so much to do and it seems quite overwhelming! Our first thoughts are to have a destination wedding in Jamaica in 2015, and I’m thankful to know a few people in that business, like Jaime from My Way With Style, who I met on Twitter! I owe a few people a call for sure. Looking for a dress, planning the wedding social, invitations, and of course the honeymoon, which I am sure I can find on a booking siteΒ are all still on my to-do list! Β I’d absolutely love to go to Barcelona for our honeymoon! So much to do, so little time!

For now we are just enjoying being engaged but we both know that time passes so quickly, we willΒ haveΒ to, or should I say I willΒ haveΒ to get brainstorming and get this party underway!

I look forward to blogging about our wedding planning adventures over the next few months!

Are you recently engaged? Are you overwhelmed with the planning? Are you already married? Any tips you can share?

  1. Congratulations! Always great to hear about engagements. As for any advice, just make the choices you and your sweetheart want to make for your special day. Oh, and try to have loads of fun along the way!

  2. Having owed a venue where we sometimes hosted 3-6 weddings of various sizes (10-300)… I would recommend booking a venue where they handle it all.. no need for a wedding planner.. venues these days are set up to handle weddings start to finish. Good luck with the planning!

  3. Congratulations! So exciting!

My advice is two parts: 1. remember this is your wedding, don’t let others wants, desires and wishes get in the way. 2. It is only one day of rhe rest of your lives together. Determine what you need, want and can live without. Location might matter a lot, but colors don’t.

Oh one more thing spend for flowers at the reception if its a different location than the wedding. The wedding is about 20 min long, but the reception is hours!

PegCityLovely is all about the convo - let your thoughts be known!
