A&W Raises Quality Standards for Fast Food @AWCanada

Mechanically separated meat.

Sound appetizing? No, I didn’t think so.

Don’t worry, A&W is on a mission to ensure that we’re eating REAL ingredients in the food we order at their restaurants.

A&W Logo

A&W recently guaranteed that antibiotic-free chicken is used in their food, and did you know that over a year ago they also implemented ingredient guarantees for their beef and eggs?

In September 2013, A&W was the first national quick service restaurant in North America to introduce beef raised without the use of hormones or steroids across its entire burger menu!

A&W Beef Guarantee

  • A&W offers 100% pure beef with no additives, preservatives or fillers
  • The cattle ranchers A&W works with are at the leading edge of sustainable and environmental practices. A&W only works with ranches and their local partners that follow stringent standards, raising their cattle with care and without any added hormones or steroids

The results of numerous surveys indicate that Canadians are asking for better ingredients and A&W is delivering. Thanks to the changes A&W is making to their burgers, Canadians are responding by making A&W their number one choice for best tasting burger!

Riddle me this! What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Well, at A&W the eggs did! How? After launching beef without steroids or hormones, A&W then advised the public that the eggs they use in their products come from hens who are fed a fully vegetarian diet without animal by-products. Breakfast without guilt!

A&W ingredient guarantee

  • A&W eggs are farm fresh from Canadian farms, fresh-cracked for all breakfasts, and cooked to order for plated breakfasts
  • A&W eggs are Canada Grade A quality

In addition to A&W’s commitment to redefining fast food with their ingredient guarantee, A&W is also getting greener! From compostable paper bags for the burgers, to partnerships with Canadian farmers who believe in efficiency and sustainability, to using manufacturing plants who have achieved LEED Platinum certification, A&W is positioning itself as the premier fast food restaurant in Canada.

To learn more about these great initiatives by A&W in detail, please view the various ingredient stories at awguarantee.ca.

How do you feel about A&W’s changes to their ingredients? Will these changes prompt you to make A&W your first choice for your next burger?

Glad to learn of the changes at A&W. We really like A&W and it is our first choice for beef or spicy chicken burgers. We takeout A&W once a week usually in the summer. It’s our “go to” stop before we go weekend camping.

I love that they’ve made a change. I’m not big on fast food, since I always feel super guilty after eating it. These changes definitely make me feel a lot better about having an occasional meal at A&W.
