Club Regent Is More Than Just A Casino #Winnipeg #ExploreMB

I grew up in a lil suburb in Winnipeg called Transcona. Home of the pink flamingo! I remember when Regent Ave, the main strip, was a 4 lane dirt road and there was a drive-in theatre, but I also remember when Transcona hit the big time and was the chosen location for the Club Regent Casino.

Club Regent was so snazzy when it was first built, very colourful and modern for its time. When you first walked in you felt as if you were in another world! I remember many of my friends worked at the McDonald’s in the casino during our high school years. It was and still is happening place to be!

Whenever I went there with friends, I thoroughly enjoyed the “old school” slot machines with the great big handles that you pull down. Gotta love the sound of the coins in the bucket when you win! Now that technology has evolved those handles are gone and have been replaced with bright graphics and easy to use buttons. No more coins in a bucket, now you get a barcoded receipt. It’s amazing how times have changed.

I have also attended a few weddings at Club Regent and even sang at one of my high school girlfriends wedding reception there. It’s a very versatile venue!

Over time when you live in the area, the novelty somewhat wears off as it’s no longer new but every few years Club Regent would have mini-transformations and I had never gone back to see what was new, until now!

My fiance and I decided to go there for a date night which included gaming, dinner and a concert. We started off with a tour of the entire facility, and I reminisced about the times I had been there years before. The general layout for the most part is still the same but it still has that Vegas style casino feel!

One of my favourite features of Club Regent is definitely the hallway aquarium.

After checking out the gaming, we headed over to Toukie’s Lounge for a bite to eat!

The food was plentiful! Did we ever chow down!

Not only is the gaming area top notch and very clean I might add, Club Regent has gone through a MAJOR renovation and  added a world class entertainment centre!

I was on hand to check it out for the very first time, and what better concert to review the acoustics of this new venue than PAT BENATAR!

I’m a TOTAL 80’s girl so this was one concert I could NOT miss and she did not disappoint. I swear she hasn’t aged! Her voice was unreal, she hit every freakin high note she did 20 years ago, no joke! I wish I could’ve caught it all on video, but the experience is one I will never forget.

I would definitely attend more concerts here if only for the spacious and comfy seating! It helps that it’s new and the sound was pretty amazing as well.

Over the next few months the Club Regent Event Centre has some pretty fabulous shows coming up on the calendar: Robert Irvine, Glass Tiger, Loverboy and Howie Mandel just to name a few!

Don’t just take my word for it, go experience it for yourself! Be sure to come back and let me know your feedback, I’d love to hear about it!

Til we meet again…

Natalie

  1. Sounds like a fun place to go. Pity the slots have buttons now and barcode receipts, but then again it’s a great security feature.
