Everywhere you turn these days, especially in social media, there are green/eco initiatives being presented to the masses. Some of the information can be quite overwhelming. For busy moms like myself, I’d like to take part in any way I can without feeling that I may not be doing enough. I believe that any act towards environmental health in this world is better than none!
Product packaging plays a huge role in our ability to recycle simply and efficiently. The ability to ‘break down’ an item and recycle it vs. just throwing it in the garbage allows individuals to have a sense of ownership towards an eco-friendly lifestyle. When we built our home, we wanted to make sure that an option to recycle was easily integrated into our kitchen. Take a look:
Individuals and families are constantly educating themselves in simple ways to live a healthier and more eco-friendly lifestyle. I consider myself an EcoAware Mom! I’d like to leave my children a world where their personal and environmental health are the least of their worries as adults. I’ve had to become increasingly aware of the many different choices I can make as a mom who is trying to raise an eco-conscious generation. Recycling has a major role in our household and it’s one of the easiest ways to get my children involved.
According to EcoFocus Worldwide’s 2013 EcoFocus Trend Study, nearly three-fourths (73%) of women with kids are classified as EcoAware Moms. This group views sustainability from a hands-on point of view and believes there is a very close correlation between personal and environmental health.
Evergreen Packaging recently relaunched choosecartons.com, a community dedicated to educating consumers about the benefits and eco-friendly attributes of carton packaging.
The Choose Cartons website offers something for everyone in the family! For the adults, there are awesome tips and information that can be easily shared through a variety of networks. Did you know that carton packaging is made with renewable materials? Or did you know that cartons preserve the nutrients and taste of their content? Interesting information right?!
For the kids, there are tons of great downloadable activities and crafts about becoming more eco-friendly. There are also educational tidbits written perfectly for young ones to understand. Enjoyable for all ages!
What are you personally doing to help raise an eco-conscious generation? Are you EcoAware?

We are generally pretty ecologically-minded. We used cloth diapers with Theo for his first 14 months, I grow a lot of our vegetables (down to the last two bags of carrots from last summer!), pick up litter while Theo and I are out on walks, use the transit system and the list goes on.
I wish that we had the built-in recycling drawer like you have!
In our house we recycle everything! We live in a National Park so are especially aware of the importance of the environment.
