It’s that time of year again folks! Annually each February, people across the world celebrate Black History Month and I am one of those people!
I have been fortunate enough to serve on the committee in previous years and I have also been MC of the popular Fashion Show.
This years event calendar is jam-packed with goodness starting with the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday Feb 1, 2014 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at New Anointing Christian Fellowship, and yes it’s FREE!
I asked co-chair Nadia Thompson on her thoughts of what will make 2014 an amazing year for Winnipeg’s Black History Month events:
“Every year Black History Month gets bigger and better, this year is no exception. We have something for everyone, from great food and music, to stimulating conversation and remembrance. Our History is what builds our Future!”
I concur with her sentiments! Here is the official event calendar for your review:
Follow along on the Black History Month Facebook Page for pictures and additional events in the community, as well as the Black History Month Winnipeg Twitter page.
Have you ever attended any Black History Month events in your community? What was the most enjoyable aspect of partaking in the event(s)?
Looks like there are lots of great events planned!
Lots of interesting events – something for everyone. Congratulations to the committee for putting together such a great program.
Wow! That’s a packed calendar! Enjoy!
