Happy Tourism Week #Winnipeg! @TourismWinnipeg

This week, all across Canada, travel and tourism organizations are highlighting the awesomeness of their provinces and cities for Tourism Week!

I’m very excited to share the events happening in #Winnipeg. There is so much to take in!

Monday June 1, all day – Taxi Appreciation Day
To continue to build the positive relationship Winnipeg shares with our taxi community, Tourism Winnipeg and The Manitoba Hotel Association have invited local hotels, attractions, and tourism partners to thank our taxi drivers for the excellence in customer service with an appreciation day. Confirmed participants are: Winnipeg Airports Authority, Holiday Inn Winnipeg South, Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites, The Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel, The Mere Hotel, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, and Assiniboine Park Conservancy.

Tuesday June 2, 11:30 a.m. – 2015 Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction – Fort Garry Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre

Tourism Winnipeg presents the fourth annual Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction. Ace Burpee emcees the award show, which recognizes the people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer a superior tourism experience to travellers in Winnipeg. See what Winnipeg has been doing in promoting their city, and who gets to take home the big awards.

Thursday June 3, 9:30 a.m. – 2:-00 p.m. – Tourism Rally – Fort Garry Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre
Travel Manitoba, Tourism Industry Association of Canada, and the Canadian Tourism Commission are hosting a tourism information summit that will provide insight into how TIAC and the CTC are working to grow the visitor economy. Tourism and hospitality business operators and stakeholders, and local media are all welcome to participate in this open dialogue on making Canada’s tourism industry more competitive.

Thursday June 4, all day – Bring it Home Feature
Be sure to pick up today’s Winnipeg Free Press. In it, you’ll find a special wrap that details Tourism Winnipeg’s flourishing Bring it Home initiative, which boosts Winnipeg’s economy by bringing meetings and conventions to the city. Read about the success stories, attractions, and world-class venues that will inspire you to host your next event in The Peg.

 Thursday June 4, 11:30 a.m. – Food Truck Wars
Discover the many gems of Winnipeg’s mobile cuisine on this mini tour which promotes culinary tourism.

Tourism Winnipeg and Downtown BIZ are excited to feature our burgeoning street food scene that has blossomed in Winnipeg over the past few years. Tourism Winnipeg will host local media for a Food Truck crawl to highlight the best street eats around.

Friday June 5, 9:00 a.m. – Photo Contest Launch

The launch of the 2015 Capture Your Winnipeg Photo Contest kicks off with a media release and poster distribution to promote the contest. The photos entered in the contest will be used in future marketing materials and the best photo will win a grand prize. Friday June 5, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Airport Mascot Invasion – Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport

Visitors arriving to Winnipeg will be in for a surprise, as mascots representing local attractions and events invade the airport to welcome them to the city with promotional materials, prizes, and furry hugs. There will be plenty of pictures, as Tourism Winnipeg also launches their annual “Capture Your Winnipeg” photo contest.
