As summer sports like golf, soccer and baseball wind down, a new set of sports begin for fall including hockey, football and basketball.
Winnipeg is proud to boast home teams in both hockey (Jets) and football (Bombers); however, we haven’t had our own basketball team for years.
Lucky for us the NBA is making a stop in PegCity this week!
Marriott International, Inc. and the National Basketball Association (NBA) recently announced a partnership that makes the global lodging company the Official Hotel of several marquee NBA events around the world, including NBA Global Games 2015-16, NBA Africa Game 2015, and NBA Canada Series 2015. Marriott is the first company to partner with the NBA across international games on five different continents.
- Oct. 4 – Vancouver, Canada
- Oct. 10 – Winnipeg, Canada
- Oct. 14 – Ottawa, Canada

The Marriott groups of hotels are no stranger to Winnipeg as we have 3 wonderful Marriott properties to choose from:
Marriott International offers their leading loyalty program Marriott Rewards which is free to join and has no blackout dates. Members can earn and redeem points at Marriott International properties around the world!
Marriott Rewards is a frequent traveler program that rewards exclusive membership privileges when members travel, as well as a choice of frequent flyer miles in preferred airline program, or points toward free vacations. Delta Privilege joined Marriott Rewards earlier this year.

Marriott Rewards is hosting a series of private meet-and-greets with NBA legends and players for its Elite members and invite fans to take a virtual trip in the #AroundTheWorld photo and social sharing experience!
I wonder which NBA legend will be at the Winnipeg game?!? Any guesses?
This weekend’s game in Winnipeg features the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Chicago Bulls, I think the atmosphere will be electric for my first NBA game, I can’t wait!
Stay tuned to my Periscope broadcasts, Twitter feed (#AroundTheWorld) and Instagram posts on Saturday Oct 10th, 2015 as I share the game and hopefully sneak in an impropmtu interview or two with fans and of course the behind the scenes action!
See you there!
I wish I could go and experience it myself. This is a great partnership indeed!

Great chain of hotels!! And I am following you on Periscope 🙂
What a blast this would be! I wish it weren’t so expensive to get off the island and go to Vancouver, because we’d be there for sure!
We love staying at Marriott hotels when we do get away for a day or two. None of the NBA stops are close to me but it sounds like it will be fun.
Great post. I love going to the Marriot when im out of town.
