Unrooming Mere Hotel in Winnipeg

Staycations can be just the type of self care that a person or family needs in this day and age. No need to worry about flights, lost luggage, additional food costs etc, and if you really, really had to (in case of an emergency) , you could easily and quickly go home if required.

It’s no secret that I love staycations in Winnipeg as it allows me to be a tourist in my own city!

I recently partnered up with Hotels.ca for an exciting opportunity where I was able to stay in one of Winnipeg’s newest boutique hotels and provide a fun-inspired way to provide an efficient first impression review of a hotel room.

The Unrooming project is a fabulous new trend for hotels and booking agencies alike to interact with their customers in a fun way!

WHAT DOES UNROOMING ENTAIL?

Similar to unboxing a package, unrooming a hotel room is simply taking a 1 minute video of your hotel room from the moment you open the door. Quickly move through the room and share your first impressions! It allows folks who haven’t been there to get a quick at look the room before booking it.

Could you imagine if everyone did this for every potential accommodation?

HOW WOULD IT BENEFIT YOU?

Think of it this way, let’s say you wanted to come to Winnipeg and book a hotel, as much as we all love to believe that the pictures on their website replicate what you will actually get, many times we know that isn’t true. These unrooming videos provide a quick but “actual person’s” first take on the room with their smartphone, so you can actually see with your own eyes what the room really looks like!

I recently stayed at the Mere Hotel in Winnipeg and here’s my unrooming video!

GIVEAWAY TIME!

I’ve partnered with Hotels.ca to giveaway a $150 e-gift card to one of my fabulous followers!

  1. Niceeeeeeee..

I would certainly like to give it a try…. Could you please provide me with more details?

No wonder it is a good chance to win a nice fortune…. I am sure this must be a real good experience… I got such a kind of chance before in Edmonton at http://www.unionbankinn.com/ hotel. I got 2 days and 2 nights stay free of cost….

Thank you so much for sharing it with us all.

  2. I would love to stay at the The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto when we go there in December! it looks very nice!

  3. I would love to book a night or two in Orlando Florida, we are book a trip soon and they have some great hotels on the site to choose from, exciting giveaway !!

  4. I would choose the coast coal hotel in Vancouver because we love visiting vancouver and the hotel is located centrally to everything we enjoy doing. and the views of the water are simply breathtaking.

  5. I’d like to stay at V Hotel & Suites because it looks like a very nice and chic hotel. It’s downtown and close to lots of fun things to do too. I’ve heard it’s had a makeover and I’d love to see the upgrades.

  6. I would book it at the holiday inn in Toronto because I’d like to go visit my friend, it’s been a while we’ve been talking about it but I’m amassing the funds to get there

  7. To be honest it’s tough to narrow it down for the purposes of the question but I went with The Chelsea Hotel in Toronto because we are frequently in Toronto this year in particular and have reason to both celebrate and basically accomplish “business” of sorts there so we love the Chelsea the 3 times we’ve stayed. It’s convenient to some great restaurants, the beds are very comfortable good tvs and good rates for what you get. We also particularly liked the gym in the hotel.

  8. I’d book Hotel Le Cantlie Suites in Montreal. First it’s right downtown, plus this gives me a chance to visit my family and they can see the newest addition to the family

  9. I’d book a night at the Ft. Gary in WInnipeg. It’s the closest thing to a castle that this princess will ever get a chance to stay in!

  10. I would book my stay at the Comfort Inn at Corner Brook, NL. I would stopover there on the way to visit family.

  11. Hands down i would have to say the Great Wolf Lodge , Ripley’s Water Park Resort, Niagara Falls. My son loves waterparks and to see one so big indoors would blow his mind. Plus the falls, we love visiting the falls. family vacay!

  12. I would book The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, Alberta. Beautiful scenery and a chance to get away with my husband!

  13. i’d stay at the pan pacific in whistler, because it is so lovely there in the winter, with the outdoor hot tub!

  14. I would love to stay at the SLS Las Vegas hotel as I go there yearly and that is a hotel I haven’t ever tried yet!

  15. I would visit my family while staying at the Fantasy Land Hotel in Edmonton – it would make the family visit less stressful for everyone. And I could shop and enjoy the pool too.

  16. I would book a night at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier so that I could enjoy it before they begin renovations in the next little while.

  17. I think we would stay at the Fantasy Land Hotel in Edmonton. It would be a lot of fun to take my kids there to see the mall and visit the waterpark and then be able to stay right close by for the night.

  18. I’d choose Mere (again). We actually stayed there last year, and loved it, except for the part where I woke up hubby when I used the Nespresso!

  19. I’d stay at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria – close enough to be doable and find care for the kids, but a ferry ride away from the chaos of home.

  20. If I’m lucky enough to win that , I would book Delta Hotels by Marriott Saint John because the location is very convenient .

  21. I would like to stay at Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel , but I don’t think that would be anytime soon. So I would probably pick Royal Scot Hotel & Suites which is closer and more likely.

  22. I would book a room at the West Edmonton Mall Fantasyland Hotel because this would really help make one of their theme rooms affordable and I’ve always wanted to stay in one.

  23. I would book a stay at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Waterloo – St Jacobs, Ontario. I would stay here as I love visiting the area and it is a couple hours drive from home so the perfect Staycation!

  24. I would stay in Whistler for the night, it’s so gorgeous there and only short 2 hour drive. During peak seasons it’s super expensive so this would help out big time!

  25. For a stay-cation I would either pick Chickadee Lane Bed & Breakfast, Steinbach since i ve always wanted to go to a B&B or Mariaggi’s Theme Suite Hotel & Spa as I ve always wanted to go there as well.

  26. I would love to spend a weekend in Las Vegas! I have heard amazing things about Wynn Las Vegas and would love a chance to experience it!

  27. I would stay at the Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York because of the location proximity to downtown NY and the amenities that the hotel offers.

  28. Tough question since I’ve stayed t so many great places! I would stay at El Dorado Hotel in Sonoma – my husband and I stayed there during our last visit (sans kiddo) and it’s attached to memories of wonderful vacation!

  29. If I won I would stay at the Holiday Inn express here in St johns Newfoundland. My son really wants to stay at a hotel for his 8th bday with a pool so this would be a HUGE help! Thanks!

  30. I would book a stay at the Inn at Laurel Point, Victoria, BC. I have stayed there before and enjoy watching the float planes coming on and they have a great fruit salad.

  31. I don’t live in winnipeg so a stay at a downtown Winnipeg hotel would be the perfect getaway, Jet’s game, and dinner out. I would love to try the Mere .

  32. I’d like to stay at “Inn at the forks”, even though I have never lodged there, I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about it. However, love the fact that it is located at the forks and just by the CHRM. This will give anyone a good taste of our Peg city.

  33. Love to stay at “Inn At The Forks” if I had the chance to win.
    – This convenient location is right in The Forks area.
    – Great shops all around
    – Right downtown
    – Has the Riverstone Spa at your fingertips right in the hotel

Thanks for the LOVELY chance to win @pegcitytest2.dev ♥♥♥

  34. I’d choose a room at the Fort Garry Hotel, full of history and character! I’d love to stay as a hometown ‘tourist’ and walk to the Forks and discover restaurants along Broadway! Maybe even visit Ten Spa!

  35. I love the idea of unrooming. Would love a night in a hotel – i’ve driven past mere, but never stayed there and if i won, i would definitely chose a staycation there! love exploring winnipeg’s gems.

  36. If I were to win the gift card I would use it at a kid friendly hotel with a great pool! Kids love swimming and with cold weather coming a hotel stay is the perfect way for them to burn off energy.

  37. Hey!! I would totally check out Mere! Haven’t been there yet but heard it’s worth the visit. The unrooming looks inviting. Nice getaway for sure!
