Wedding Planning, It Starts With A Dress

Remember this picture? I have been engaged since April 2013 and I have yet to start any wedding plans, never-mind look for a wedding dress!

I’m officially engaged!

With all of the craziness in my life over the past 6-8 months, and after dealing with the passing of my mom, wedding planning has been on the back-burner. However, my mom was adamant that I make sure that even if she wasn’t able to be there that I have the most special day ever, and I know she’ll be looking down on me every step of the way.

One tradition I know that I will miss the most as I plan the wedding is taking my mom with me to shop for and try on wedding dresses. We had made plans in the summer to go, along with my sister, but she was just too ill.  I fondly remember her saying that couldn’t wait to buy her mother of the bride dress and dazzle everyone.

As I look ahead to planning my special day, I know she’s my guardian angel who will be beaming with pride when she sees her granddaughters in their beautiful evening dresses. We are going to have so much fun picking them out!

I guess I better get going on this wedding planning thing eh? It might help if we decide for sure if we’re having a destination wedding or not, as that will help me choose the type of dress! Take a look at these dresses from DressFirst, I liked them at first glance. What do you think?

  1. I hate weddings but I love wedding dresses! I guess it’s the fashionista in me! Lol! I hope you found the perfect one!

  2. Oh ya – the one with the sweetheart neckline and red flowers suits you perfectly! Can already see how beautiful you'll be 🙂

  3. Good luck with the dress search…and all of your other planning. It can be such a whirlwind, so it's good that you're taking your time!

  4. I too like the one with the sweetheart neckline. Definitely decide when and where before the dress. Some of them are very heavy and warm. They have extra layers. Good luck!
