Nintendo #2DS Is Fun For the Whole Family #Giveaway

Are you an avid Nintendo fan?

Recently, our family had the opportunity to check out the Nintendo 2DS console with Super Smash Bros for 3DS game. Β Wow, I’m not a gamer per se, but I couldn’t put this thing down! It’s super fun to play no matter the age group.

I was excited to see how my daughters would react as they both Β have the original DS lite from back in the day, and they’ve asked every year for the newest one. The 2DS takes their entertainment to a whole new level.

Compared to the existing line of DS consoles, the 2DS still has two screens (one touchscreen) but it does not fold up into a little package.

2DS vs DS Lite

As you can see, the buttons are pretty much the same with the exception of the “joystick” or circle pad above the directional arrow buttons. This took some getting used to! Graphically, the 2DS is pretty stunning (from what we’re used to), and even if it doesn’t show in 3D, it’s very crisp and bright.

An SD slot is available for saving photos or playing music.

The AR cards are my absolute favourite part of this system. Even if you don’t have access to a game but are itching to play, the AR games are ridiculously fun. Essentially you turn your household surface into a 3D play space! I took some videos of this feature in action but I can’t seem to upload them properly. These pics will have to do but really don’t do it justice!

With the 2DS, there is a built in 3DS camera which allows you to take 3D photos and 3D videos (viewable in 2D).

I had a ton of fun playing this with my toddler and teen on separate occasions. It’s a game where your face is a game character! It’s great that no matter what age, the game translates into fun!

I love the fact that the girls can use their older DS games and play them in the newer system.

With the Wireless LED, you can connect to your network and head to the Nintendo e-shop to download additional games. You can also download games from the Virtual Console (Game Boy titles etc) or even DSiWare. With the Nintendo DS, you automatically receive a downloadable version of Mario Kart 7!

You can suspend your game and make notes about the game you are playing!

I personally haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but my daughters had a blast playing Super Smash Bros which is included with the giveaway prize! Super Smash Bros has sold over 2.8 million units worldwide since its release! It MUST be good!

I’m pumped to be able to share such an awesome giveaway with my fabulous readers! Open to Canada only – ends Nov 28/14 at 7pm. Good luck!

  1. Interesting thing about the 2DS is the thumbstick for sure. I also think that the flat design is really interesting too.

  2. My favourite thing is that you are able to play the DS games and there is no hinge on the 2DS so you don’t have to worry about it snapping or being loose! πŸ™‚

  3. I love that the 2DS brings me back to my childhood playing on my DS Lite. That thing was so much fun. It’s nice that the device brings back memories of the old with the designs and games of the new!

  4. I like the lack of 3d gameplay….This may be a problem to some but I have used a 3ds before in the department store and the 3d effect instantly gives me a headache.

  5. The Nintendo franchise has been in my family for years (I have three boys, one 16, one 10 and the other 7) and i must tell you, Nintendo is the best!!! It is very user friendly, as well as worth the money, to tell the honest truth i wasn’t surprised when Nintendo revealed the 2ds because i expected it. Because Nintendo understands their customers they made a system that is affordable with all the same aspects of the 3ds (excluding the 3d) this was a very good idea on their part. I love that the 2ds can still play ds games also and the fact that the camera quality is so good. I really hope I win this for my little Tristan (the 7 year old) to finally let him have a system of his own by his birthday!!! (dec 15)

  6. My favourite feature is that is has Parental Controls! This is great because the system is also compatible with the internet, has a camera … so the Parental Control feature would help me control and manage web browsing, etc.

  7. i really like that it takes 3ds games and old games because then i wont have to sell the old and i can just buy the new and 3ds games

  8. I love the fact that it’s Nintendo. Great quality. I also love the fact that you can interchange games from previous systems. Mario is also the best games hands down!

  9. I like how it has a built in backlight. Back when I used to play on my Advance, we’d pray for sunlight to stay up a little bit longer during car rides in hopes of finishing our Pokemon battles.

  10. I ave played with the devices Nintendo handheld devices since the Gameboy came out. Sometimes stealing into my children’s bedrooms at night to grab the device for some alone time with Zelda, Super Mario and Spyro. I love the new features in the newest Gameboy. The wireless aspect and the Ar cards look like a lot of fun. My children are all grown up now, but occasionally my grandchildren come and spend the night and will bring their Gameboys.

  11. it looks so much fun, & backwards compatible to use old games is excellent. Wireless is great & just a great game system,, ty

  12. 90% bigger screen if the feature that stands out to me. User friendly for those of us gamers that sport eyewear.

  13. few different things I like…first thing is that it is all one piece, it does not fold closed so you don’t have to worry about the hinges giving out. secondly I love that it plays all the older games as well as 3ds games.

  14. I really like that tis system is wireless and portable, freeing up the TV. Thanks for sponsoring this awesome giveaway and for the opportunity to participate.

  15. I really like that you can use old games on it. This is a great feature since we have lots of old games that were favorites and still enjoy. Thanks!

  16. I like that it can play older games (so we don’t have to go out and buy the exact same games we already have) and I like has a built in camera.

  17. I like the 3DS built in camera because I know my granddaughter would be thrilled taking 3D photos and video. I would be giving this to her and I know she does not have a camera.

  18. I Love that its has 3D, it has parental control and it has Mario. I think this would be a lovely gift for my granddaughter under the tree on Christmas morning.

  19. I absolutely love that you can use old games on it. We have loads of old games gathering dust! I think all game systems should do this!

  20. I like that it plays 3D videos and records 3D video and 3D stop-motion animation3 because it makes playing more interesting and its something different

  21. My favourite feature is that is Records 3D video and 3D stop-motion animation3. i’m actually surprised the 2ds can do that!!

  22. I love the StreetPass feature of the 2DS, which lets your 2DS communicate with other 2DS’s and 3DS’s while it is in sleep mode to unlock some in game features and generally just allow for a more social experience.

  23. I think my favorite thing about the Nintendo DS is that it takes photos and pretty much functions as a camera! I think that’s awesome, because I love taking pictures!

  24. I love that the older games work in it! We have a ton, and I would hate to have to start all over again with a new system!

  25. I love download play! With multiple DSs in the house you can have Mario Cart races with each other, even if only one person has the game. Download play only works with some games but when it does It’s super fun!

  26. I love that you can play Nintendo DS games on it because it would give me an even greater variety of games on it than it already can. I also own quite a few older games and it is reassuring that I could play older games on the 2DS if my older devices ever break down.

  27. I have been obsessed with gaming and nintendo since a very young age. I am so happy the 2DS is here. I would love to win this giveaway and review this device on my blog. My favourite feature would have to be the fact you can play older games as well! Definitely a money saver since I can use my old games!

  28. I really like the parental controls. My son is in a stage where he thinks zombies are awesome! I’d rather have a little bit of say in what he has access to and who has access to him online!

  29. I like that you can use it as a camera. I also love that it doesn’t close. Every handheld game that my kids have, have always broken at the hinge.

  30. I am entering your giveaway.
It would be great to Win a Nintendo 2DS and Super Smash Bros Game.
In response to your question of
What features of the Nintendo 2DS do you like the best and why?
I like that it can browse the internet
and you can use your older DS games and play them in the newer system.
Thank you for having this giveaway!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. I really like that it’s compatible with older games which means we can pull out those old games and finally be able to use them again.

  32. I love that it’s compatible with the older games. i hate when new systems come out and they make all the old games useless!

  33. My fav feature is the Graphics Display Wide-screen LCD display showing 16.77 million colors with 800 x 240 pixel resolution. (400 pixels are allocated to each eye to enable 3D visuals), because for me it is all about the graphics.

  34. I love that you can still use the older DS games with it and also that you can connect with the wireless LED to get new games.

  35. I love how it has a great library of games for every age. I’m really looking forward to Majora’s Mask coming in 2015 and this will let me play it.

  36. I like that you don’t have buy all new games fir a new system. Older games still work! I think the kids will like that too. It’s not ” wasted money” on the older games because they get shoved in a box.

  37. Jennifer Cervantes

I love that you can use the old ds games, especially since GameStop sells them used pretty cheap, but my favorite feature is that it does NOT bend in half to fold, my kids are destructive and broke our original with the constant folding it closed.

  38. My favorite thing is that you can use your older DS games and play them in the newer system. My kids have lots of games and it is nice when they dont end up by the wayside just because a newer system has come out
