Sickness, germs, viruses, and just pure nastiness seem to have taken a hold of many cities across the country this winter season.
After a busy holiday season, this is exactly this time that we tend to be most prone to getting sick – when you’re feeling a little worn down. I absolutely HATE getting a cold!
There are a few symptoms that present themselves when you may be falling victim to a cold or flu. What can you do to combat them?
Common signs of the flu and cold include the obvious cough, scratchy throat, congestion, runny nose, and even the subtle signs like fatigue, aches, pains and fever. It’s important to listen to your body and know when it’s telling you to slow down. I’m soooo bad for this. Hence why I’ve had strep throat and bronchial infections over the past few months! Not good.
As soon as you start to feel something coming on, use an all-in-one pain, fever and nausea reliever, such as Gravol™ Multi-symptom™. With naturally-sourced ginger and willowbark, it will help fight off that nasty Canadian cold, without leaving you feeling drowsy. Anything with ginger works for me!
No matter what, try to keep warm! Curl up into a nice cozy blanket with a hot cup of herbal tea. One of my favourite teas is Chai Spice, and when I need to get my body relaxed I’ll drink pure chamomile. Not only does it get your body temperature up, the tea has a calming effect. Tea always makes me feel better any time of the day!
Sleep is underrated –especially in my world with the crazy kickin toddler, but it’s about more than a simple beauty regime. It’s one of the most important rituals that your body needs to restore energy and repair your body. I need to get better at listening to my body when it tells me to calm down and rest! No one else can do it for me, right?
What are some of your ways of fighting the cold and flu (other than throwin your germy kids, family or friends in quarantine)?
nothing beats a cozy blanket and a cup of hot chocolate when the sniffles attack
I think with 3 kids one is bound to get the flu!!! I just read about this stuff the other day!! It sounds amazing!!! Where was it when I had the flu last year!??! I hope I will not need it but if I do will be sure to try. 🙂
Knock on wood we have been lucky this year and have not caught anything but the medicine cabinet is stocked just in case.
