3 Compelling Reasons Why Thermea Spa Reigns Supreme in #Winnipeg

It’s the weekend, you had a long week, and you need to relax. What is the first place other than your own home that comes to mind?

Thermea Spa is nestled in the southern part of Winnipeg, surrounded by nature and deserves the hashtag #RelaxationGoals whenever it’s discussed! It’s a thermal spa experience like no other.

There are only 2 Nordik Group spas like it in North America, and it’s worth every jaw drop.

ThermeaWinterI had the utmost pleasure of receiving a personal tour and subsequently publishing a detailed review of Thermea when they opened up for business earlier this year. Since that post, I have returned 3 times, twice with a group (both in “winter” temperatures) and once with just my fiance in late summer. They have added a few more aspects that complement the whole experience such as:

It’s unbelievable how something so simple, a 3 step process, can be so invigorating yet relaxing at the same time.

First you start with the HOT step, one of 3 saunas,

Thermea Finlandia Sauna
Finlandia Sauna

Then, you enter a COLD bath, yes, as in frigid! Shock your body!

Thermea Geser
Geser cold bath

Finally, you RELAX in either the hot tub, FLAM cabin (enclosed firepit with no roof), or Relaxa chalet.

Thermea Relaxa
Thermea Relaxa Chalet

The first few times we didn’t set aside enough time to truly experience it all; however, on my most recent group visit, we stayed for hours and went through the cycle WAY more than 3 times. I sat in that fire-pit area and watched the stars in the sky while holding hands with the love of my life. A shooting star made an appearance at that very moment and I was in total bliss!

It’s so great that Thermea accommodates groups. Last night there were 12 of us and we had a glorious time! The most difficult part of the experience is the silent policy. I’m so glad they will begin to have an evening event each month where there will be music and a little more leeway to talk above a whisper. Stay tuned for more details!

While we weren’t able to partake in the menu at the restaurant due to unforeseen circumstances, the evening was full of chill vibes and amazing company.

Well, I came up with 3 compelling reasons for you:

  1. AFFORDABLE: For only $60 per person (Fri-Sun), you can have the full thermal experience including bathrobe rental from open to close, no time limit and no reservations required (except massage therapy).
  2. APPEAL: Any and everyone will thoroughly enjoy this experience (age 16 and older). Relaxation does not discriminate! There is a wide range of diversity within Thermea’s demographics.
  3. UNIQUE SETTING: There are only 2 Nordik Group spas like this in North America (another one coming soon to Whitby, Ontario), and it is the ultimate definition of an urban retreat.

I could go on and on about Thermea but instead I’ll share sentiments from the couples who attended last night, including those who visited Thermea spa for the very first time:

Thermea met and exceeded the expectations I had of this place. From the beautiful spa grounds to the exceptionally clean and modern facilities, this place really makes you forget the physical and mental stresses of life and overall leaves you with a total Zen feeling of relaxation. It is an absolute perfect place to spend with your partner and or a group of your closest family and friends. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and took care of us from beginning to end what a great night! Tim N

It was a fabulous experience that help friends and I reconnect on an intimate level filled with peace fun and relaxation. The service was impeccable and the experience made me feel that I had gone on a retreat. Josephine O

We had a great night at Thermea. The location and surroundings make you forget that you’re still in the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the facilities were spotless. The thermal cycle is both relaxing and invigorating at the different stages. It was an excellent way to unwind and I will definitely be returning. Jeremy J

Introductions in the beginning for the group was great especially for the first-timers. It was a quaint and relaxing environment, you totally forget you are in the city. It was very accommodating for individuals couples and groups. The restaurant would have been great if it was open but stuff happens and either way it didn’t take away from the experience. It was such a nice night. For people who are always running on full cylinders, it really takes you down a few levels. It was really needed to take a nice break and get back to connecting. Liz P & Marlon R

Thermea is truly a getaway right here in the city. Not only is it gorgeous, but the staff are extremely friendly. I shared an amazing experience there last night with 10 wonderful friends! Not only could they accommodate a group of this size but we could participate in all of the thermal circuits together. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, taking a timeout for self-care, and quality time spent with good friends…relaxed, rejuvenated, and blessed. Thank you PegCityLovely for bringing us together,  also to our hosts Dave and Darwin, and to the rest of the Thermea staff in making it a memorable night. Felecia N

Rituals that invigorate, rejuvenate, relax AND create lasting friendships and deeper relationships? Yes. To me, this is what the Thermea experience brings and we can’t wait to do it all over again! Mary Ann and Vernis B

It was such a great alternative to the usual dinner and/or movie date night. A relaxin, yet interactive way to enjoy each other’s company. Exploring and enjoying the intense sensations of the thermal experience is an experience like no other! It’s invigorating, rejuvenating, and soothing all at once. Nerissa M
