In a few days RBC Convention Centre will be transformed into a ‘Nawlins type atmosphere, complete with the sights, sounds and tastes of Louisiana. Welcome to Mardi Gras Winnipeg!
I had the opportunity to attend a sneak peek of what Mardi Gras will have to offer this weekend and was I ever impressed! Of course I had to start off with a lil drinky-poo:
Drinks are great and all and the Love Potion was delicious, but I’m all about the FOOD! I could not wait to try the items featured on the menu. I honestly wish there was a way to post the wonderful smells so that you can see what I mean. There will be a Food, Oyster and Wine bar featuring items like my favourite, the Jambalaya – Oh. Em. Gee!
The seasonings, the spiciness, the flavours – absolutely ridiculous! But I didn’t stop there, I also had the Rose Farfalle which was another favourite because it was ‘different” than what I expected. When I think about classic New Orleans dishes, a pasta like this didn’t come to mind but I was pleasantly surprised!
I may only have a couple of pics but I tried EVERYTHING on the menu, Po Boys, Deep Fried Pickles, Gumbo, and yes even freshly shucked oysters for the very first time! Don’t believe me? That’s ok, I have proof:
Ahhh, fun times indeed!
Ok, so let’s get to the nitty gritty! You want tickets to this amazing event right? I have 6 tickets for Fri and 6 tickets for Sat – who wants them?!?
I will pick 3 people to win 2 tickets for each night at noon on Friday!
Enter below, good luck and see you there!!!
