Struggle For Freedom/Lutte pour la liberte

I received this bracelet as a thank you for my participation in the #Mandela100 exhibit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights launching June 8, 2018 in #Winnipeg.

***

The concept for the exhibit is “27 minutes for 27 years”. Each one of us had to spend 27 minutes in an 8X7 foot room with no distractions, no phones, no door handle, nothing. It was all to experience what it felt like to be confined like Nelson Mandela if only for a short period of time.

***

When I first entered the room I didn’t know what to expect. As I read Mandela’s profound quote I thought to myself, this is ok, I can do this, 27 minutes isn’t that long. However, after a few minutes, it feels like the walls are closing in, and you wonder how someone could possibly not have access to their life and family.

Mandela’s legacy is unmatched, the significance of all that he sacrificed to stand up for others lives on and will continue to be cherished. See the full video promo below
