A Change Is Gonna Come, Oh Yes It Is!

PegCity born & raised, lifestyle blogger, and positivity enthusiast. I'm here to share about life – from hidden gems to healthy habits and build a community of authenticity.

I'm Natalie!

Hello beautiful people!

The title of this post has so much meaning right now in a global sense; however, I’m going to be a little selfish, as this post is all about PegCityLovely (and yes I was singing the song as I wrote it). Did you expect anything otherwise? 🙂

Ok, let’s get to the nitty gritty…

As a mom, wife-to-be, daughter, sister, friend and more who works full time, it’s so important that the ONE thing that’s all mine, my blog, demonstrates quality and 100% effort.  It’s been a rough road lately for me and my blog, technology-wise.  I haven’t been able to publish a post without it taking hours, my blog design has old code and an old outdated WordPress theme, some plugins are corrupt, database issues, you name it, it’s gone wrong over the past few months. I won’t tell you how long it took to get this one up!

Funny enough, a similar situation happened when I experienced my first year blogiversary, the fact that it is happening again for my 3rd blogiversary is a huge sign that I need to change HOW I blog, so that I can ensure the standard of excellence I originally set out to achieve.

When I originally launched PegCityLovely it was super basic, really basic!  I was so proud of my own little graphics, fonts and layout etc. But yea, really, really basic! No judgment please, I’m going through an evolution here!

That look lasted for about a month or so and as I became more comfortable with being online, I realized that I needed more, wanted more. Something fun! I contacted Mommy Blog Designs and she helped me with a new quirky header image featuring my ‘characte’r and the Winnipeg skyline in the background.

Cute and funky? It sure was, and it suited my purpose at the time.

However, my growth continued and my content evolved to include interviews, event coverage and more. I thought to myself, hmmm, I want to look a little more polished rather than a character, let’s get my face up there, let’s show Natalie! So, I endeavoured to get a pic of my face (yep, that’s a selfie from my iPhone) and change up the font in my header image. I left the layout and theme the same. There you have it, the current PegCityLovely blog.

That was just over a year ago.

Now? Well now, I am stepping up my game even more. Time to ELEVATE to not only a snazzier look that is clean and simple but also a look that’s mine and a site that is fully mine, my edits, my ideas, my theme, my coding, completely ME.

See, this woman, this PegCityLovely, she’s a techie for a reason! I love messing around with code, html and all that jazz but it can be tough to do that with someone else’s work and lack of time to complete it, hence why it has literally taken what seems like forever just to get to this point. I strive for continuous improvement in all that I do.

Here we are, August 2015, and I have yet another vision of what PegCityLovely is and should look like.  Late last year I did a super fun photoshoot with the talented and oh so awesome Ian MacCausland. After much thought I was just going to upload those pics to the existing blog theme but I knew deep down it’s so much more than that.

I wanted to relaunch PegCityLovely with a new look, new layout, and an overall new vibe. You will all get to see the new PegCityLovely on Wednesday August 12, 2015 (3 years and 1 month to the day since I launched it)!

I thank each and every one of you for your support and patience, it is very much appreciated!
